Welcome
A few years ago an active and enthusiastic group of people who care about the future of this area formed a planning group. We have a vision of a revitalized Fork Union, a community that is a great place to live and to do business, as well as a wonderful place for others to visit.
We want Fork Union to be enhanced physically and spiritually, with a charming central Village and a strong sense of community. For the past few years, we have worked with planners from Fluvanna County and the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission to create a detailed plan to accomplish these goals.
Our plans and efforts have been strongly supported by the award, in late 2006, of a Transportation Enhancement grant to get the physical work going.
Consultants have been hired - Hill Studio for planning and landscape architecture, with Wiley & Wilson supplying engineering support. Plans are being made, and once they are approved, construction will begin.
So we are starting to move ahead. In addition to the Transportation Enhancements, the committee is planning projects that can be accomplished primarily through community participation—sweat equity. As momentum builds, we have more ambitious plans, and that will take money. Your contribution will help to build a vibrant and prosperous community—a Fork Union that we can all be proud of.
